We’re hiring 2 Marketing Assistants!

The Bike Co-op and Bike Kitchen are currently hiring 2 UBC Work-Learn positions for the September 2015 to April 2016 school year. The positions are suited to marketing or business students interested in developing and implementing a marketing plan for a non-profit organization.  In order to be eligible, the applicant must be an enrolled UBC student. Communications and Marketing Assistant  (Bike Co-op)

The Bike Co-op Communications and Marketing Assistant will work with the Communications Coordinator to develop marketing materials to promote the AMS Bike Co-op and its various programs and events, as well as cycling in general.

Marketing assistant (Bike Kitchen)

The Bike Kitchen Marketing assistant will work closely with the Bike Kitchen manager in order to develop the Bike Kitchen’s brand and promote the community bike shop on campus.

 

 

 


 

Bike Rentals Temporarily Discontinued

Monday, August 31st, 2015

The Bike Kitchen is currently in the process of selling our rental fleet and will not be acquiring new bikes until the new year (at the latest). Bikes are still available for rent on campus at More Bikes, or consider becoming a part of our campus bike share.

 


 

Bike Kitchen closed Labour Day weekend

Monday, August 31st, 2015

The Bike Kitchen will be closed Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7 for Labour Day weekend. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday. Have a great long weekend!

 


 

We’re hiring 3 Work-Learn positions!

The AMS Bike Co-op is hiring for 3 Work-Learn position for the September 2015-April 2016 academic year. The deadline to apply is August 14.

We are hiring for the following positions:

Volunteer Assistant 

The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator’s main tasks will be:

– Attending volunteer nights, particularly Purple and Yellow Volunteer nights every Tuesday from 6-9pm
– Providing support to volunteers during volunteer nights and at outreach events (greeting volunteers, providing brief orientations to new volunteers and assisting other volunteers when necessary)
– Assisting the PM with volunteer coordination and recruitment
– Helping the Outreach Assistant with Cycling Resource Centres (community cycling resource stations at community events, where free cycling information and by-donation tune-ups are provided)
– Facilitating volunteer orientations
– Entering data and compiling statistics on volunteer retention and member engagement
– Collecting data on the Purple and Yellow Volunteer nights, to identify the volume of bicycles repaired and currently in circulation
– Monitoring volunteer programs and seeking areas for improvement
– Attending the Bike Co-op’s Programs Committee meetings on alternating Thursdays from 5-6:30pm
– Other duties as assigned

Communications & Marketing Assistant

The Communications and Marketing Assistant’s main tasks will include:

– Designing posters, pamphlets and other promotional material
– Assisting with the development and implementation of a communications and marketing plan
– Blog writing
– Liaising with other groups and clubs to organize workshops and events
– Creating and finding content for social media
– Assisting the Communications Coordinator with the weekly newsletter
– Other duties as assigned

Outreach Assistant

The Outreach Assistant’s main tasks will be:
– Attending Cycling Resource Centres (community cycling resource stations at community events, where free cycling information and by-donation tune-ups are provided)
– Providing support to volunteers at Cycling Resource Centres
– Collecting and entering data on the number of participants at Cycling Resource Centres
– Assisting the PM with report writing and program development
– Helping the PM and Assistant Volunteer Coordinator with volunteer engagement and retention
– Providing administrative support with bike lockers and cages, by updating spreadsheets and answering emails
– Attending the Bike Co-op’s Programs Committee meetings on alternating Thursdays from 5-6:30pm
– Other duties as assigned
